The Problem

Balanced Living In STEM (BLIS) has the goal of empowering students to succeed academically while maintaining balance by fostering meaningul connections, sharing experiences, and offering mentorship. Based out of Gainesville, Florida, BLIS wanted to further expand their message beyond the University of Florida. This is where I came in.

The Solution

I used my experience in UX/UI design, branding, and photography to create a streamlined, one-page site that reflects BLIS’s mission and priorities. The navigation highlights what matters most to our members and community: I focused on keeping the user journey simple and goal-oriented, with the “Join Now” button placed prominently at the top.

Key Design Elements

Color
Palette

I refined BLIS’s existing color palette by simplifying it to a smaller, more cohesive set of colors. This helped improve visual consistency across the website while maintaining the organization’s established brand identity and making the site feel cleaner and more approachable.

Streamlined Design

I designed the website as a single-page layout to reflect BLIS’s mission of balance and accessibility. This streamlined structure allows users to easily navigate the site, quickly understand the organization’s goals, and stay focused on their priorities without clutter.

Original Photography

I conducted original photography with the website in mind, capturing images that highlight BLIS’s community, events, and values. By tailoring the shoot to the site’s layout and content, I ensured the visuals felt authentic, cohesive, and engaging, enhancing the overall user experience.
